Procus 245 alloy is the electrode to use to combat wear by impact
Procus 245. A tubular electrode formulated to give good resistance to abrasive wear as well as good impact resistance.
In almost every mechanical process, regardless of size or complexity, the phenomenon of wear is unavoidable. It is not easy to assign an annual value to the cost of wear but it undoubtedly contributes largely to both capital and operating costs in many industries. Therefore, any materials which contribute to the reduction of wear will also contribute to a greater operating efficiency along with cost savings.
Procus 245 is a general purpose tubular hardsurfacing electrode formulated to combat impact and abrasion. Deposits also resist oxidation, mild corrosion and erosion.
Procus 245 is an outstanding electrode with exceptional welding characteristics. The smaller electrode is excellent for good out-of-position welding. It therefore allows hard material to be deposited in overhead and vertical positions. It can be used as an overlay on new and worn components.
High dilution factors are common with ordinary hardfacing electrodes, often caused by the high operating currents required to run them. Because of the low amperage requirements of procus 245, dilution is kept to a minimum and so the deposit hardness is uniform. The low operating current minimises the amount of carbides destroyed during the welding process, therefore ensuring that maximum deposit hardness is obtained.
Procus 245 hardsurfacing electrode is suitable for a wide variety of applications. It is particularly suitable for brickwork augers, swing hammers, ripper teeth, grizzly bars, dredge teeth etc.
Hardness: single layer – rc 54 to 57 multiple layers possible.
